Pangarchulla Peak Trek 2022 – Trek the Himalaya

INTRODUCTION:

Pangarchulla peak is a famous trek in Uttarakhand state, India. This trek leads to the group of peaks called the Himalayas. The name ‘Pangarchulla’ means ‘Chimney Peak’ is a stunning peak located in Uttarakhand’s Garhwal Himalayas. The peak is located in the eastern part of the Chamoli district of Joshimath, Uttarakhand and has an elevation of 4,590 feet from sea level.

The Pangarchulla peak trek is a challenging trek with many perils and difficulties. It starts from the Mountain city of Joshimath and ends at the foothills of the Pangarchulla peak. It takes about seven days to reach the peak from the starting point. The first day of the trek is very difficult as most people get injured during this day. People hike during the night and rest during the daytime to overcome this difficulty.

The Pangarchulla Peak Trek is a moderately tough 7-day trek mainly in Nanda Devi National Park. It takes place in the middle of March and April when temperatures can be moderate for the trek. Resting places are easy to find, but you’ll need your own weather gear and food. The trek itself is not difficult but the ascent at high altitudes should be done with caution.

Itinerary

Day 1. 

Depart from your hotel from Dehradun to Joshimath by car and go through the famous Rishikesh and reach Joshimath by late afternoon. At Joshimath, visit the famous ghat of Yamunotri and its surrounding villages. Also explore the famous Temples, which are considered holy by Hindus and Buddhists. The view from this city along with the water stream of the Garhwal Himalayas will take your breath away!  It has a scenic beauty with deep valleys and dense forests.

Because of the rivers’ distinctly identifiable personalities and colours, each of these sites is nothing short of breathtaking.

1 Rudraprayag: This is where the mighty Alaknanda joins forces with Mandakini. 

2 Devprayag: This is where the holy Alaknanda river conjoins with Bhagirathi.

3 In Karnprayag, the Alaknanda and Pindar rivers merge.

Day 2. 

Second day of the pangarchulla peak trek is a hard and long day of the hike. This trek is one of the toughest treks in India and makes your lungs ready for breath compared to other treks. It will be a great experience after lengthy days of heavy travelling. You will enjoy the magnificent scenery with awesome views of mighty Nanda Devi located in the Garhwal Himalayan range.

Day 3.

 In Pangarchulla Peak Trek, the journey is a short walk from Guling to Khulara. The trip takes about 3 hours, within 5 mins you will start seeing the beautiful lush green pine forest. Though there are official campsites, where travellers can stay at night and enjoy the view of the stars if there is a clear sky, at the last outpost of the Pangarchulla forest and walk to ease themselves. In the months to hike this trek around March and April the view is magnificent, when snow covers the trail.

Day 4. 

Pangarchulla to Khulara and back again is a 14 kilometres journey. Trekking time is around 12–16 hours. The longest and hardest day of the trek will be summit day. You will depart from our campsite at three in the morning. On this day, ascend a rocky slope that is gradually inclined. the sky’s shifting hues and the majestic peaks’ responses to the sun’s motions.

Day 5.

 The distance from Khulara to Dhak to Joshimath is 12 kilometres. It takes roughly 3–4 hours. Today is a fairly simple day. We only need to return to Joshimath by walking in our footsteps. We complete breakfast by 8 AM and hope to leave by 9 AM after taking some time to recover from the exhaustion from the previous day. We reach our first campground after an hour and a half of descending through the forests. We arrive at Dhak after another hour and a half, when we board our car and go to Joshimath. This sacred town has a lot to explore both inside and outside of it. The guest house is where we stay the night.

Day 6. 

The journey is over today. Get ready to leave the inn and board your vehicles to return to Dehradun. We should get to Dehradun by late in the day. Please schedule transportation that departs between 11 pm and 12 am if you intend to go that same night in order to allow for unforeseen traffic delays.
